The software industry is rapidly transforming all aspects
of society; from business to government to the ways
individuals communicate. The future of the Internet,
software innovation and a healthy global e-commerce
marketplace will largely be shaped by how companies
and policy makers around the globe over the next few
years address several key issues. Copyright protection,
free trade, competitive procurement processes, strong
cyber security and education will continue to play key
roles in the future of software innovation. And that,
in turn, will impact every business and consumer that
is increasingly part of the information society.
Together with Eutron Infosecurity, the brainchild behind
the Smartkey, DSSS strives to make sure our customers
are protected from unnecessary software piracy and loss
revenue.
Smartkey is the dongle that provides high security
protection for software applications. It is extremely
reliable and constantly updated, allowing companies
to move with the times and safeguard their profit.
SmartKey is a compact sized hardware key to be plugged
into the PC parallel port or USB port (it dipends on
the model). Every key electronically holds its own unique
identity number, which is recognized by the software
to be protected and enables it to run properly.
During its execution, the software first verifies the
key's presence and its internal code; when a correspondence
is established, the software keeps on running, otherwise
it is stopped. The software may be protected either
by automatically encrypting executable files or integrating
specific software drivers.
SmartKey is easy to install, secure and discreet: after
plugging the key into the PC, the user can forget all
about it, because its presence is fully transparent.
But if the key is removed, the software stops running.
SmartKey limits the use of the software to one copy
at a time, without preventing the execution of archive
or back-up copies. Used by over 5,000 software houses
the world over, SmartKey represents the state of the
art in software protection being based on ASIC (Application-Specific
Integrated Circuit) chips specifically designed for
its security functions.
The deployment of ASIC microprocessors and chips makes
the simple hardware cloning of the dongle impossible.
Every dongle is personalized singly by an identification
code pre-set in the factory and different for every
user.
Automatic protection of executable files.
Allows the encryption of data files associated with
the protected application programs.
No need for internal batteries or an external power
supply.
Up to 416 bytes of secure non-volatile memory in read
and
write mode, protected by an access code.
A double access code of 16+16 bytes is user programmable
by means of the utility provided.
By means of additional libraries, it is possible to
identify, read and write the dongle installed on an
Internet client.
Complete support for languages and environments (Visual
C++, Visual Basic, Autocad, Solaris, Delphi, .NET, etc).
